Tree removal, shrub removal and lot clearing in Yakima

Big R takes down the tree, clears the shrubs and hauls the debris. Licensed, bonded and insured, and open 24/7.

Chapter 01

When a tree has to come down

Most Yakima homeowners wait until a tree forces the question. Roots creep under a driveway or patio and the soil compacts until the concrete cracks. A tree planted too close to the foundation starts to threaten the footing. Crowded trees choke each other out, and a diseased or overgrown one near the house or the power lines turns into a hazard you can see from the kitchen window.

Sometimes the reason is simpler. A tree blocks the view you bought the house for, or it sits right where the new landscaping is supposed to go. Those are valid reasons too. If you are not sure the tree needs to go, Raul will give you an honest answer on whether it needs to go.

Every job starts with a free estimate. Big R usually gives one within 24 hours and many times can do it that same day. The quote comes after a look at the tree's condition, its size, what is growing around it, and what you want done with the wood and the stump. You do not have to be home for the removal. The crew just needs access to the property, and that gets worked out beforehand.

Trees, shrubs and whole lots

Removal is not only the big tree in the front yard. Big R pulls out overgrown juniper rows, arborvitae, and tangled shrub beds, and clears whole lots down to bare ground. John Lasik hired them for “Big R was contracted to remove a 30 x 10 section of densely packed juniper shrubs and a large mugo pine in the center. Raul and his team performed the work in a quick, efficient manner with an excellent clean-up at the end.”

Tight spots are where the work gets interesting. Kimberly Rae Abella-Cree had a tall dead birch with power lines on either side, plus large junipers and other shrubs, on a tight schedule: “Raul responded very quickly and arrived in less than 15 minutes to evaluate the area and provided a very reasonable price quote.” The crew works with the bucket truck and a roped climber when a tree sits close to wires or a house.

The crew is licensed, bonded and insured, and Big R holds WA L&I contractor licence BIGRTRT797KE. The wood is yours to keep: Big R can cut a tree into firewood or haul it off the property, whichever you want. Cleanup and haul-off finish every job, so you are not left staring at a pile of limbs. Hailey Dorais had exactly that pile with the grass grown up through it, and wrote that “They removed the entire pile, ground the stump, and even took care of an old pine tree for us.”

Chapter 03

Hedges that outgrow you every summer

Hedges grow fast in the Yakima area, so height reductions are a common job. A hedge that gets away from you stops looking like a clean property line and starts looking like a wall of overgrowth. Regular trimming does more than tidy it up. It trains the hedge to grow to its fullest capacity and keeps it healthy.

Every hedge type needs its own care, and some want more frequent trims than others. Big R looks at what is planted before choosing how hard to cut. Hedges often serve as natural fences, and they take careful grooming and pruning to hold the shape you want. The crew has the tools to handle even the largest hedges.

Sharon Williams had arborvitae that had run away from her homeowner association rules: “trimming our Aborvitas down from 20 feet to eight feet, (per our homeowner association rules,) without ruining them!” That is the point of doing it right. A hedge cut back correctly comes back thick instead of bare.

Kimberly Rae Abella-Cree, Google review: Raul responded very quickly and arrived in less than 15 minutes to evaluate the area and provided a very reasonable price quote.
