Big R Tree Service. Tree work from the top down.

Raul Rodriguez's crew prunes, removes and grinds out trees across Yakima and Selah, with a bucket truck, a climber on the rope and a phone that's answered any hour.

How a big tree comes down

From the crown to the chip pile

We're large tree specialists. Climbers go up with spikeless methods whenever possible so the trunk isn't scarred, the bucket truck reaches the limbs a rope can't, and nothing comes down until it has somewhere safe to land. Licensed, bonded and insured under WA L&I BIGRTRT797KE.

  1. A Big R climber roped into a tall poplar against a blue sky

    In the crown

    A climber goes up first

Roped in, spikeless whenever the tree allows, reading which limbs can drop and which have to be lowered.

  2. The view from Big R's bucket: the boom printed with 509-969-9374 over a juniper and the street

    Along the limbs

    The bucket takes the reach

Limbs over a roof, a fence or a service drop are cut from the bucket, a piece at a time.

  3. Big R's green grapple loader moving large cottonwood rounds, the bucket truck behind

    Lowered, not dropped

Big wood comes down under control

Trunk sections and rounds come down where they won't hurt the yard, then the grapple loads them out.

  4. A Big R operator grinding huge stumps on a frosty morning

    At the stump

    Ground below the surface

The grinder takes the stump down past grade so it can't send up new shoots, then the hole is raked level.

  5. Two of the Big R crew beside their red chipper and white chip truck

    Back out the gate

    Everything goes through the chipper

Brush and limbs are fed through the chipper on site, the yard is raked, and the chips go out free to Yakima homes on our waiting list.

“Raul explained it was dangerous and with the heavy winds we have been having it could very easily fall on our house. He recommended it be cut down before the others. Three other companies that did bids for us did not even mention it.”

Mandy Testerman, Google review

“Raul and his crew did a great job removing a large tree from our yard after a portion of the tree was damaged in a windstorm. He arrived the day after I called to give us a quote, and scheduled the work within a week. Crew arrived on time, finished the job quickly and left no mess. I would definitely hire Big R again.”

Sara Carlenius, Google review

“Big R came in and did the job in just a couple of hours! I am absolutely amazed at how efficient, and pleasant they were. They left no mess and the price was right.”

Yes, we provide the Yakima, Washington area and surrounding regions with seasonal tree care packages that include a complete line of tree care services.

We can cut your tree into firewood or remove it from your property as desired.

This depends on hazardous, sick or emergency job. We are happy to consult with more information.

Before offering a precise and equitable quote, we conduct a thorough assessment of the tree's condition, size, surroundings, as well as your preferences regarding wood disposal and stump grinding. These factors significantly impact the duration and safety of tree removal. Schedule an appointment with us for a complimentary estimate tailored to your tree removal needs.

The timing for pruning your tree depends on various factors such as the tree species, its growth habits, and your pruning objectives. In general, it's best to prune deciduous trees during late winter or early spring when they are dormant. This timing allows for optimal wound healing and reduces the risk of disease transmission. However, some trees may benefit from pruning during other seasons. For flowering trees, pruning immediately after flowering can help maintain their shape and promote future blooms.
